Vietnam Review of Northeast Asian Studies (formerly the Japan Studies Review) published the first issue in June 1995, it will mark the 20-year anniversary this year. The past twenty years have seen the Review managed many challenges, but under the leadership of the relevant authorities (first of all Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences), the contributions of collaborators, domestic and abroad readers, Vietnam Review of Northeast Asian Studies has continuously developed. Initially, the Review issued 4 volumes a year, then rose to 6 ones, 10 ones and today it publishes monthly. In the early period, it just introduced the study on Japan, and then expanded to Korean studies, and now the Review publishes studies on Northeast Asian countries and territories, including Japan, South Korea, North Korea, China, Mongolia, Taiwan, etc. The collaborators of the Review have constantly been expanded: initially, writers were mainly from the Institute for Northeast Asian Studies; today, the Review has a large collaboration of researchers from all parts of the country, including collaborators from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Mongolia, etc. Vietnam Review of Northeast Asian Studies today has really become a forum for social sciences on Northeast Asian countries and territories in Vietnam and the world. The research results published in the Review have contributed to provide a scientific basis for guidelines and policies of the Vietnam’s Communist Party and the State, contributing to the development of education and training, improve literacy in Vietnam. To further promoting Northeast Asian studies results to the world, the Vietnam Review of Northeast Asian Studies will publish an English version every six months from this year. Vietnam Review of Northeast Asian Studies in English will be the publication of best research projects submitted to the Review in the major fields such as politics, security, economics, culture and society. We are looking forward to the attention of domestic and foreign readers to better enhance Review quality.
